Dear Clients and Friends,
We are writing to share an important and positive transition taking place at our firm.
Effective January 1, 2027, Emily Philippe will become the sole owner of North Country CPAs, as Scott Lawrence transitions from his role as a partner to Senior Advisor with the firm.
After many years of firm ownership and the responsibilities that come with it, Scott has decided that the time is right to step away from the pressures and administrative responsibilities of being a partner and begin slowing down professionally. This transition will allow him to focus more of his time on the parts of the profession he enjoys most-working with clients and providing the experience and guidance that have been so important to our firm over the years.
Importantly, Scott is not retiring or leaving the firm. He plans to remain with North Country CPAs for at least the next four years as Senior Advisor and will continue working with many of the clients he currently serves.
For our clients, we expect this transition to be a smooth one. The accountants, payroll and bookkeeping professionals, and other staff members you have come to know will continue working with you. Our goal is to preserve the relationships and continuity that are important to you while gradually transitioning responsibilities as appropriate over the coming years.
This change is also an important part of our long-term planning for the future of North Country CPAs. We remain committed to maintaining a locally owned, independent firm that provides personal service, builds long-term relationships with our clients, and gives our employees opportunities to grow professionally. This transition allows us to plan thoughtfully for the firm’s future while retaining the experience, relationships, and institutional knowledge that Scott brings to our team.
There is no action that you need to take as a result of this change. Our firm will continue to operate as usual, and you can continue contacting the same members of our team with whom you currently work. As individual responsibilities evolve in the future, we will communicate those changes directly and make introductions when appropriate.
We are grateful for the trust you place in us. Many of our client relationships have lasted for years-and in some cases generations-and we recognize the responsibility that comes with that trust.
We are both pleased with this next chapter for North Country CPAs. It provides continuity for our clients, positions the firm well for the future, and gives Scott the opportunity to step away from the demands of ownership while continuing to serve clients and remain an important part of our team.
